This fear is funny.......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70wGnx_lZio

Ive noticed how everyone is afraid this election cycle....Ive never heard so many adults saying that one candidate or the other TERRIFIES them??!!! What is up?!!! Since when did politicians strike such fear and loathing into the hearts of good citizens. What happened to our faith? Where did our hope and confidence go?

Family update

Granddaddy at 64 and the Bunny at 7 months old

Outside play at the grandparents

A Miracle is witnessed at the grandparents......

Here are some pictures taken over the last few weeks. A special hello to my cousin Cynthia!!! I heard from my mom that she keeps up with me and my sister through our blogs!!! Glad to know your out there....sorry i dont keep this more updated. And for actual intellectual content you better stick with Hopes blog......this mommy doesnt have the brain power her older sister does to put together thoughtful, insightful, interesting posts. Tell your two sisters hello also Cynthia...we love you gals.

Reuse, Recycle....

so what does a woman do in a major national financial crisis....well she goes shopping of course. My favorite store??? Well your garage sale. Reuse, Recycle. On a recent trip to visit the folks i went on an excursion with my mom and we found some incredible buys and now ive got the fever. Its amazing what you can find at a yard sale. You get something you need at an incredibly cheap price PLUS your helping your environment by reusing/recycling someone elses junk. I told the hubby that between yard sales, consignment shops, and really good sales at our favorite department stores there is NEVER a reason to buy anything full price. *although some items like a good car seat for your child you should never buy used.

Some of my favorite buys are the bouncer we bought for the bunny for $10. It is in brand new condition. I bought two awesome picture frames for 50 cents a piece. I bought a beveled mirror for $10. I found a wire bakers rack for $4.

Its been fun and inexpensive. The frames are such a great buy, ive found a few more. You all know how crazy expensive picture frames can be too.

You can also find great, barely used cheap toys for the kiddies....like the golf set for $3 i bought the wolverine. All those yucky, plastic toys that people buy for $40-50 end up in their garage sales....kitchens, cars, workbenches. Im still on the hunt for a couple of bookshelves.

The real fun is in finding the unexpected. If anyone out there likes the hunt you can always join me. Its my way of stretching our dollar and keeping things from being sent to a landfill all rolled up in one.

This election year is the most

exciting one to ever happen in my lifetime for sure. Just when you think it cant get any better , it does. Thank You John McCain for upping the ante and for making alot of those republican colleagues squirm. Governor Palin was a darkhorse VP candidate, but i was hoping he would show a little of the old Maverick and pick someone like that.

After watching the DNC convention and listening to some pretty good speeches, im interested in seeing what the RNC brings out. It will be hard to top the Clintons and the Obamas at the top of their games.

Whoever you favor, im sure your looking forward to the next two months as much as i am. Our country needs good leaders now more then ever. Lets hope after all the stumping and campaigning and promising, one of these duos can help turn this country around.

Things overheard

in the Macys dressing room while waiting for Daddy to try on some pants....

"Mommy, i have a penis and Vivi has a vagina."

The two women sitting next to us broke out in laughter.

I followed that statement up with "Alright then. We're outta here." And off we strolled. I mean really, what else are you going to do?

My man can still rock....

like there was ever any doubt.....15 years later he still has "IT". Im not sure what IT is, but he sure has fun. Its always great to see someone you love doing something they love and getting all amped up.
Hard to believe it was 15 years ago that he gave that up for the OH so secure gig of THEATRE!!! I believe he sold his amp so we could get our first apartment. Well you can take the boy out of the band but you cant take the band out of the boy....not permanently.

Anyone dare to take a peak.

Very presidential

Well it seems your man John Edwards was fit for the job after all, honey.

We all know that no one can run the country quite like a man who has an affair. Too bad he couldnt get past those twins of fidelity, Obama and Hillary.

Take me out to the ballgame....

Funny how life works. I ran in to a friend i hadnt talked to in probably 3 yrs at the Concours event a few weeks ago. Today i ran into her AGAIN at the bread store and she asked if i knew anyone who would want 2 tickets to the Legends game tonight. I said "We might". Well, she GIVES them to me for FREE plus passes to the Makers Mark Club. Wow. She had club seats about 10 rows up from home plate. AWESOME. So my boys have gone to the game together. Daddy and Wolverine. The Bunny and I are home together.

It is kind of nice, but kind of quiet. Even Bunny keeps looking around like something isnt quite right.

Hopefully they will have fun. the wolverine didnt nap today so he is already tired. Too bad, because they have fireworks tonight at the ballgame IF he can last that long. And the Makers Mark passes wont do the hubby any good since he is taking a 3 yr old....ha!!!

Anyway...i love it when swag comes our way. Thanks Betsy!!!

Things overheard at the house, vol.2

After being put in a timeout by Daddy the wolverine heads up to his room saying in his best southern belle drama voice:

"Im walking sadly off."

Upon entering his room he is heard lamenting:

"Im all alone. I dont have any friends."

I swear the drama gene DOES run in our family.

Overheard this week at the house:

The wolverine- "look mommy i put my underwear on by myself."
Mommy- "great! But they are on backwards, remember the picture goes on the back, on your bottom."
The wolverine- "yeah, but then I cant see it."

We attended our first

Concours d'elegance today out at Keeneland. Its basically a car show for people with millions to burn on crazy, cool, expensive, cars. People who collect cars are a mystery to me. I dont really put alot of stock into "stuff" like that. But i admit it was alot of fun, especially seen through the eyes of the wolverine who is way into cars right now. He was in car heaven....and the fact that most of the cars he had never seen before made it a thrill.

I think the Masarati impressed him, as did an old fashioned race car from the 30s. Most of the car owners were really nice and gladly answered questions. And i think seeing a young boy so obviously thrilled about their cars made them even more happy to offer up info. The wolverine loves his corvettes and will tell you "only look, keep your fingers of the vette". Cant imagine where he got that. Pictures are forthcoming.

Also today i saw The Dark Knight. After seeing it i can say it lived up to the hype. Its a really solid crime film. Christopher Nolans fingerprints are all over it and im so glad he approached it as such instead of just another comic book movie. There was an actual story arc, character development, and clocking in at 2 and a half hours he really takes his time but the movie just snowballs the entire time. There wasnt a weak performance in the movie. I am just AMAZED Nolan got such a subdued performance out of not only Gary Oldman but also Eric Roberts. Arron Eckhart is just brilliant and his character arc is really what the film hinges on. Maggie G is solid and heartbreaking. Christian Bale is Batman as far as i am concerned. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman bookend Batman and just rock it.

The movie actually surprised me. And it left me thinking about the things it was trying to say....Nolans Gotham City is a real place and the people and things happening are as close to believable as you can get in a world where a man dresses up as a bat and fights crime and his arch nemesis is a clown faced psychopath. And kudos to Mr Ledger for bringing us a Joker like we have never seen before. He was spot on.....just a sicko getting his kicks. He doesnt want money or anything, just wants to watch the whole town burn. His portrayal is just a kick to watch and i found myself getting juiced about his crazy schemes.......and seeing him dressed as a nurse was the scene i think will become the "go to" scene for his performance. It was wacky doodle.

What do you guys think? Anyone out there seen it?

Flying High Now.....

I just love a little man on a mission. From time to time the wolverine will busy himself quietly in his room playing or "working on something". Sometimes is harmless play with hotwheels cars or reading books. It is the OTHER times though that he is quiet for a little TOO long and just outdoes himself that amaze me. What must go through his little mind??? This particuliar day he finally called down to me, "Mommy, come see what i am doing". And that, ladies and gentleman is a call you NEVER dont immediately answer and run up the stairs to see what he has gotten himself into.
READY

SET
GO!!!!!!

Notice the perfect landing. Sticking it.......notice the chair on TOP of the toybox with one leg teetering off the side....notice the incredible air he gets as he launches himself across the room onto his mattress.
Just another day at the compound.

Musings from the week that was....

* My sister and her hubby will celebrate their 10 yr anniversary in November. They are going to Vegas and renewing their vows in some seedy all night chapel that apparently Brittany Spears had her first 15 minute marriage in. And she is thinking about wearing this.....

My younger brother met the Bunny for the first time over 4th of July weekend when we visited my folks in Tennessee. One of his first comments upon seeing and holding her was "What, did you have an affair with the Michelin man?!!"

*The wolverine came down the stairs in full on "Mr. GoodTimes" mode last night for dinner with a lampshade on his head and a big dump in his pull up. He really knows how to party.

June is Busting Out All Over....

Backyard fun....
On the scooter...
Hanging out on the stoop...

Swimming with your best buddy in a matching swimsuit......

Yes, it started raining as soon as they got in...
and then the lightning started and spoiled the fun.
So much fun i fell asleep in the rocking chair.

Dan Wu explains the rules of bowling....teach them well ObiDan...

the wolverine learns to wait his turn....and after 4 rounds he learns that patience pays off...the girls didnt want to bowl any more so he got to take their turns too.
He bowls, he grills, he cares for the bunny....is there anything this man cant do???
The bunny and her new toy...
The bunny and her favorite shoulder

Our little Daredevil...he is afraid of my living room lamp and he wont jump out of the van unassisted, but he will do this........

Here he learned where strawberries actually come from....and helped pick some...and also trampled many a row ....good fun....

we have had some fun times here lately. The wolverine is so much fun and so much work all rolled up into one. The Bunny is just a joy. We are trying to hit all the summer highlights. In the last couple of weeks we have bowled, picked strawberries, gone to the farmers market, gone swimming, ate countless amounts of a variety of berries, melons, and goodies. Its just been good summer fun.
