Once upon a time

every botoxed, restylned, nose jobed, wacky plastic faced aging starlet was America's sweetheart. Instead of aging gracefully and naturally and with a little dignity they choose to be part of the growing problem in our country. No one wants to look their age. Heck, no one in Hollywood even wants to look like themselves evidently.

Case in point.

Meg Ryan. She was once, you got it, America's Sweetheart........Remember........(dont look up, just focus on this cute, sweet , lovely woman underneath us.

She was the girl next door, the best friend, the one all the good men ended up with. She had spunk and sass.
And throughout most of the 90s she had her own face.....and a few lines creeping in even.....
But then it started. Her lips started getting a little fuller and uneven.
The lines started smoothing out. She got a lot paler. Her eyes started looking "odd". And her nose thinned out, filled back in, and then settled on this.

Im not sure how much of Meg Ryans real face is actually left here. It seems around the early 2000s she was the recepient of some very unfortunate plastic surgery. My question is WHY??!!! Who told this woman she needed a nip/tuck??!!! And who was responsible for the less then fabulous end results?? I mean its no Kenny Rogers hack job, but its not good.
Cant we all just be O.K. with aging. I would have been alright Meg , watching you gracefully wrinkle and dimple and crease onscreen over the next 20 years.

I couldnt make this stuff up....

but someone at SCIFI network is ALWAYS pulling out gems like this:
http://www.scifi.com/kaw/

Tonight at 8pm on Scifi network

"KAW"- "Agressive ravens attack townspeople barricaded in a diner. With Sean Patrick Flannery. (2007)

Oh my....your career must really be over when your doing those original Scifi "nature gone wrong" movies

This one is for you hunny.......i knew you could use a laugh.....its almost as good as "Mansquito". For those of you who dont know, it has become a source of great fun and amusement for the hubby and I finding these awful movies that Scifi puts out now. Feel free to join in.

Winds-day

Midway thru a long week, ive been channeling Linda Hamilton of T-2 fame in order to get by. Mothering a sick toddler is a bit like fighting an almost indestructable machine sent from the future to destroy you and your son. The sleep deprivation.....check.
The feeling of constantly being on the run.....check.
The slicked back ponytail because youve got no time to fuss with your hair....check.
The battle weary grimace....check.
The sweating aching biceps bulging as you lock and load that automatic machine gun ready to take out the next person who calls "momm....."......oh wait.....um...just kidding.

Its April 9th

and i havent even started on our taxes yet. Add to that horrific thought the fact that alot of our "records" for taxes were destroyed in the flood of 2006 and you can see where i am going with this. Headache. So if you dont see or hear from me this week you know i am here at the altar of Turbotax sweating it out.

Hippity Hop Hop.....

the easter bunny has left the building.

Easter morning and im reminiscing about my own childhood memories of the annual rites of spring. Some things change and some stay the same. Although im not really a big advocate of playing up the whole "easter bunny" thing we did do a basket for the wolverine. That i cannot give up. Its too much fun to see his face light up when he comes into the living room and sees a basket full of fun. Somehow he just knows it is his without us even telling him...Ha!

So the basket is chock full of things. Plastic eggs full of cars and trucks. Elmo eggs filled with tiny box of raisins. New bubbles....spill proof (great for those of us whose children insist on trying to drink theirs). A Thomas the Train book. Dr Seuss Green Eggs and Ham book. A pail, shovel, and handrake to help mommy in our garden. (This garden is fictious and although talked about endlessly has yet to appear in our backyard). And a Thomas the Train backpack....to carry fun things around in.

The day was uneventful other then that. No easter egg coloring or hunting. No spring fancy clothes. No church. No gluttonous overpriced brunches. Just us. The grandparents left at lunch.

Easter in my mind will always include things like baskets brimming with chocolate and candy. Matching full length purple gingham checked dresses for me and my big sister. Coloring eggs. Hunting eggs. Grandparents. Church, church, church. Uncomfortable tights. Wizard of oz.

I remember one Easter getting a little ring in my basket. That was thrilling. And i remember the disappointment of the Easter i finally "outgrew" the bunny and awoke to no basket while my little brother found his filled to the brim. That one still stings. *Note to self....the wolverine will get an easter basket until he is at least 25.

The weekend was a good one with the grandparents. Lots of eating out. Lots of the wolverine chasing around my mom calling out "grandmother". Playing Rook with my folks and tim. And losing every game!!!!

Hope everyone is well.
