Living it up, Living it up ,oh yeah, Friday night....

Well after a looong day, even longer week, even longer year (yeah at January 28th)....I just finished watching Battlestar Galactica. Its our weekly respite from thinking. Just sit back and watch. Its actually a wonderful show....many of you have heard me go on about it. But its not just my word...check outthis review...http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/suderman200601200838.asp

So todays playgroup was Romper Room. We had our biggest group ever with children ranging from about 9 weeks to 17 months. The boys still outnumber the girls but we are seeing an increase in girls lately. I love the differences among the group. Our age range for moms seems to be 19 to 36 and LUCKY me im the oldest. I never thought i would be the oldest mom in any room. ITs weird. I keep thinking....where are all the thirty and forty something moms(Maria i know your wondering this too)...i know they exist...the statistics prove that...and we cant walk past a magazine rack at the supermarket without seeing another aging starlet giving birth or adopting. Geez...i hate being part of that grouping. But im starting to be pretty impressed with this "younger" generation of mothers. I really admire them. And although not that many years seperate me from them i DO notice differences. I figure our group represent a pretty good cross section of mommys in Lexington and im seeing the trend in them to be stay at home mommys. They dont seem to feel as pushed to juggle a career and motherhood. Perhaps because they feel time is on there side? I envy there energy and their ability to put themselves together. I especially love seeing all of them nursing....and nursing in public.....YOU GALS ROCK!!!!

Its been a full 24 hours since The Wolverine has nursed. Ive been pumping and giving it to him in a bottle today. This is a first and a desperate attempt by this mom to encourage sucking and not biting. Thank goodness my sister gave me this bottle......i never thought i would use it though. I try not to be sad when i use it.....at least he is getting what he needs....and i know he loves being held even if he isnt actually latched on. Ive tried to give him alot of extra cuddling and holding too. Im just afraid he is going to not be able to latch on properly any more.

Tonight when i was holding him and bouncing him to sleep on the exercise ball he patted my chest (our sign for nursing) and i just cried. We had already tried to nurse beforehand and all he did was bite down and pull off...OUCH!!

ON a positive note.....Tim watched the wolverine for awhile tonight to let me get out and get some much needed space and perspective. Instead of getting a drink (which was my first thought) i went to the gym and worked out . It made me feel a little better.

Yaaay me.

Melinda you are so nice to offer. Thanks for your support.

the latest report from the boob is encouraging but slow. The wolverine awoke at 12:30 last night as i was going to bed so i laid down beside him and we went for it. After two nibbles he did latch on and nurse some. It was tense for me but i was so thrilled we were doing it even if his teeth were a little too close. This morning around 5am he turned over and latched on again. He did this without a bite but when he popped off he took my nipple with him. Ouch. Today however both times he has signaled me wanting to nurse he just bites me right off the bat so it was back to the bottle.
So progress is slow. Maybe tonight will be better.

Tim and I both need a break. We have been craggy all weekend towards each other. He is at the gym right now working off the funk. I think its mexican food and drinks tonight....Hey ya cant be good all the time.

I think it is totally cool that we have such a great group of young moms who enjoy their babies and who are able to stay home most of the time.

Yay that you were able to nurse some! That's great! Crossing my fingers that it continues to get better. :-)

I am so sad I missed it last week. Daniel was sick but we should be there this week :)

Sorry the nursing isn't going so well. It sounds like you have a good plan in place though. Nursing really does have its ups and downs.

Sorry to hear Daniel was sick. And thanks to all you for your support. IT helps.

Things are still up and down. We did just nurse before nap, but again he was halfway asleep when we started. That seems to be the key. Last night was awful...he wanted to nurse and i was afraid to before he went to sleep. Finally after playing the night night merry go round until i was almost crazy i tried nursing and it was alright....until he does his usual dismount where he takes my nipple along with it. Of course by then he is asleep so im just so glad i lay back and go to sleep as well.
