Alright ladies.....your help is needed again...

Tomorrow (Wednesday, February 22) our bill is on Consent Orders in the Senate. Although by definition this means opposition is not expected, there is the possibility of amendment. In fact, it could be the case that particular groups may ask for amendments specifying exceptions or special instructions for their particular circumstances. Without the ability to explain such situations here, imagine an affected group asking that the bill be amended to: exempt their particular establishments or to outline alternative requirements for that situation only. By mandating special provisions for specific circumstances, this could create an unfunded mandate for those specific environments.
Please contact your Senator immediately with the following message: "Please pass SB 106: An Act Related to Breastfeeding without amendments meant to specify accommodations for specific environments." Feel free to express why this is a bad idea (see my comments above or share your own opinion). Find your Senator's email here: http://www.lrc.ky.gov/whoswho/email.htm.

Congratulations!
Our bill is halfway to becoming a law! Yesterday, February 22, the bill passed in the Senate (38-0) with no amendments. Your voice was heard loud and clear by the Senate!
Expect the next update to be concerning which committee the bill is assigned to in the House. Once we know the committee, we can begin contacting those people who sit on that committee asking them to send it to the floor for a vote. Doraine tells me that the bill will keep the same name throughout the process (I had some inquiries about that), so please continue to refer to it by SB 106 when you contact your Representatives.
Please continue contacting representatives, writing letters to the editor, and telling others about our bill. Please keep in mind that amendments to our bill, which might make provisions for particular circumstances, could set forth unfunded mandates on some organizations. For example, if a law outlines that a location must offer separate accommodations for breastfeeding mothers, the cost of providing those accommodations becomes an issue.
